At a fading phosphate fertilizer plant in Yunnan, boiler worker HU Xin falls for nurse LI Yue. She reminds him of his childhood sweetheart, who drowned years ago. What passes between them may be willful illusion, with much that cannot be spoken. Like glints of light on the green lake, their love shimmers and ripples, but a missing-person case corrodes it.
